Primed Rosemary Herb Seed

Product ID:932E.11932E

Quicker, more reliable germination. Conventional seed with conventional priming. The priming is not NOP-compliant.

Primed rosemary germinates faster and more uniformly than raw seeds, meaning less wasted space in greenhouse trays. NOTE: For best germination results, plant primed seeds within six months of purchase.

  • Edible Flowers: Although the flowers are small, they have a bold rosemary flavor. They should be used fresh as a garnish for savory dishes and salads, and pair well with roasted vegetables, fruits, or whipped cream.

Primed seed.

Specs:

  • Packet: 200 seeds
  • Avg. 16,700 seeds/oz

DAYS TO GERMINATION:

14-21 days at 65–70°F (18–21°C).

SOWING:

Transplant (recommended): Start seeds in flats 10-12 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds on the surface of the growing medium and gently press them into the medium. Cover the seeds lightly, as light is required for germination. Keep flats at 55-60°F (12-16°C) and keep the soil moist, but not soaked, until germination occurs. Transplant to individual containers or thin when plants have 4 true leaves. Transplant outdoors after the last frost in rows 18-36" apart. In-row spacing is 8-10" apart where it will be grown as an annual and 24-36" apart where it will be grown as a perennial. Rosemary may overwinter in colder climates if mulched or dug up and transferred to containers in a protected structure. If using primed seed, press seeds into the top of the growing medium. Germinate at 70°F (21°C). Treat the same as unprimed seed after germination is complete.

LIGHT PREFERENCE:

Sun.

SOIL REQUIREMENTS:

Grows best in light, well-drained soil.

PLANT HEIGHT:

18-60".

PLANT SPACING:

8-24". Plant at 8-10" if growing as an annual. Plant at 24-36" if growing as a perennial.

HARDINESS ZONES:

Zones 6-10.

HARVEST:

Harvest begins in approximately 80-100 days from planting for stem tips or 120-180 days for bunching. To dry, hang small bunches of stems in a dray location out of direct sunlight.
