'Ballerina' Zinnia – Bred by Johnny's Selected Seeds
We are here in a seed production field of 'Ballerina' zinnia. The story of this variety is that we have long admired the pastel shades that can pop up from time to time in an open-pollinated multicolor mix, but that have largely not been available as a seed variety. These are some of the colors that are universally popular and sought-after for cut flowers. So, in 2018, the Johnny's Plant Breeding Team started selecting 'Ballerina' for these soft pastels and for really large double blooms.
There is a bit of a range in terms of color and flower form. For color, it ranges from very soft pastel shades of peach to pink to something that's a little bit darker like some of these pinks. And then for flower form, again, a bit of range from really full dahlia-shaped blooms to something that is a little bit more cactus-y, so with quills and flattened petals.
We are proud to offer this bred-by-Johnny's variety and hope it provides you with something unique for your farm or garden.
