Teff Cover Crop Seed

Product ID:5199JQ.365199JQ

New! Fast-growing cover crop used to suppress weeds.

A warm-season grass that grows very quickly in the summer heat. When seeded at 8–12 lb./acre, it produces a dense stand capable of outcompeting many summer annual weeds. Withstands regular mowing and traffic, performing well as a living mulch between plastic beds or underneath a mature crop canopy. It is frost sensitive and seeds will not overwinter in cold climates, so volunteer establishment is of little concern. The fine leaves and stems break down quickly and can be managed with or without tillage. Due to its small size and low seeding rates, seed is coated and can also be mixed with a carrier such as sand or rice hulls to make sowing easier. Teff benefits from a shallow sowing ( 1/8– 1/4") into a firm seedbed. Teff is coated with OMRI Listed® Pinnacle Green.

Specs:

  • Avg. 76,000 seeds/lb
